Director

Thomas J. O’Connor, CPA
Vice President & Director
Director of Financial Institution Services

Tom has provided auditing, accounting and consulting services for community financial institutions and privately-held companies for more than 30 years. As Director of Financial Institution Services, he oversees the firm’s Financial Institutions team, and brings to the table extensive expertise in the needs of community banks, credit unions and financial services companies.
Understanding the changing marketplace and competitive pressures that community financial institutions face is key to the consulting services that Tom provides to banks and credit unions. He has been called upon to speak to industry groups on a broad range of issues such as internal controls, mergers and acquisitions, changing regulatory requirements brought on by Dodd-Frank and Basel III, and FDICIA planning.
In addition to community financial institutions, Tom’s clients include manufacturers, real estate developers, technology companies and nonprofit organizations.
Tom’s strength is in devising tailored solutions to the unique needs that each client faces. He knows no two clients are alike, and the many transitions that he has helped clients through over the years have given him a broad perspective on how to craft successful solutions.
Tom is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Bankers Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors and Fraud Examiners.
He also devotes his volunteer time as treasurer of Mount Hope Improvement Society of Scituate.
Tom joined the firm in 1979 graduating from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He lives in Scituate with his wife, and they enjoy traveling throughout New England, especially Maine. They are the parents of three grown children and hope someday to welcome grandchildren.
