Sparking Innovation and Connection for the Future of Accounting
Once a year, members of Moore North America and Moore Global gather for our highly anticipated annual conference, and this year’s event, themed "IGNITE," was nothing short of spectacular.
Held at the JW Marriott in downtown Nashville from May 29 to May 31, the conference brought together over 150 delegates from 21 countries, providing a unique opportunity for members to connect, learn, and be inspired by the latest advancements in technology and innovation.
A Vision for What Lies Ahead
This year’s theme, "IGNITE," truly captured the essence of the event—sparking dynamic discussions, delivering insights, and fostering collaborative opportunities that pave the way for the future of accounting. By focusing on practical use cases and real-world examples of how technology and innovation can improve efficiencies, grow practices, and address the talent shortage, delegates left equipped with actionable strategies to implement in their own firms.
Insights from Keynotes
Jason Staats, a renowned AI expert, captivated the audience with his perspective on integrating AI into accounting. He discussed AI's transformative potential, addressing security concerns, practical use cases, and the mindset shift needed for successful implementation. Jason's presentation provided a fresh viewpoint on how AI can increase productivity and improve accuracy and overall performance in accounting firms.
Barry Melancon, CEO of AICPA and CIMA, delivered a keynote that explored the evolving role of accountants as strategic business partners. He emphasized the need for firms to embrace technological advancements and adapt to the profession's changing demands. Barry's insights into the future of accounting highlighted the importance of fostering talent with industry-specific expertise and developing business acumen in younger professionals.
Dr. Susan Davis-Ali, Founder and President of Leadhership1®, shared her expertise on recruiting, retaining, and advancing women in the accounting industry. She emphasized the importance of visible and vocal support from senior male leaders, early career investment, and continuous development in helping create a culture where women can thrive both professionally and personally.
Building Connections and Community
Each year, our conference provides the perfect backdrop for making connections and building relationships, and this year was no exception. At events like the welcome reception held at The Overlook, which offers stunning city views, and dinner at Butcher & Bee, one of Nashville’s culinary hotspots, delegates networked with industry leaders, experts, and peers, fostering connections in support of future collaborations, mentorship, and business opportunities.
Commitment to Social Responsibility
In support of Social Ambition, Moore Global’s initiative to make a positive social impact through everything Moore does, IGNITE attendees had the opportunity to volunteer with PENCIL, a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure equitable access to education for all Metro Nashville Public School students. Teamwork and camaraderie were high on the agenda as delegates packed teacher school supplies, sanded benches, and picnic tables, and tidied playgrounds to prepare for summer activities.
Strategic Partners at IGNITE
Our strategic partners play an important role in the success and growth of Moore North America member firms. Through our partnerships with industry-leading companies, our members are given opportunities to learn about the latest tools and resources tailored to the evolving needs of the accounting profession. This year, our strategic partners had the unique chance to showcase their products and services on the conference's main stage, mimicking the format of an episode of Shark Tank. This new approach was well received, allowing delegates to ask questions about their firm’s needs while giving the partners immediate and valuable feedback.
