Darla is a Partner in the Brown Smith Wallace Tax Services practice and has more than 25 years of public accounting experience. Her areas of concentration include rental real estate, family wealth, manufacturing, distribution and other professional service industries. She works with privately-owned businesses, executives and family groups. In addition to her extensive work in individual, business and trust taxation, Darla is responsible for supervising and reviewing tax engagements. She enjoys the learning opportunities that exist with the diversity of clients and projects she oversees. She also trains, develops and evaluates tax staff. She conducts the annual tax season training for the firm. She is responsible for tax software updates and implementation, oversees e-filing, and develops tax processing procedures. A tax planning specialist, Darla keeps abreast of changes in tax law through a variety of continuing education courses and seminars. She assists clients in minimizing their tax obligations while maximizing their assets. She helps them understand their current tax position as well as plan for future tax situations.
