Matt is the practice leader of the Brown Smith Wallace Employee Benefit Plan Audit practice. He works closely with his clients delivering timely and insightful advice related to recent and upcoming developments, accounting, auditing, legislative and regulatory changes. Matt is the firm’s subject matter expert related to benefit plan audits and has responsibility for the overall design and implementation of Brown Smith Wallace’s employee benefit plan audit methodology. Additionally, Matt is responsible for the development and training of the firm’s benefit plan engagement teams providing technical leadership to support the firm’s employee benefit plan engagements. Matt has extensive knowledge and more than 15 years of public accounting experience with 401(k), 403(b), pension, health and welfare and employee stock ownership benefit plans, including ERISA, IRS, DOL & SEC rules and regulations. Matt frequently conducts continuing professional educations seminars on matters related to employee benefit plan auditing. He additionally provides outsourced benefit plan quality review procedures to other firms with complex benefit plan audit engagements.
