Rob is a Partner of the Tax group at Brown Smith Wallace. He brings more than two decades of public accounting and industry experience to the firm, with extensive experience in the retail sector. Rob’s areas of expertise include tax strategy, tax controversy, accounting for income taxes, tax accounting methods, inventory, partnerships, real estate, and fixed asset matters.

Prior to joining Brown Smith Wallace, Rob led the St. Louis tax practice for CBIZ MHM, LLC, where he served C-Corps, S-Corps, NPOs, and individuals from many industries, including wholesale, retail, restaurants, manufacturing, health care and professional services.

Before joining CBIZ, Haggerty was Director of Taxes for Sonic Corp., the franchisor and operator of the largest chain of drive-in restaurants in the country. As head of the tax department for Sonic, Rob was responsible for establishing the company’s overall tax policies and overseeing all aspects of the tax function, including income, franchise, sales/use, property taxes, settling tax audits and the income tax provision under FAS 109. During Rob’s tenure at Sonic, the company implemented FIN 49, adopted FAS 123(R), and underwent a significant corporate restructuring to facilitate securitized debt transactions to fund the company’s tender offer to repurchase outstanding shares.
