“While the disruption of this past year would have been enough reason for others to take a step back, we instead saw this group step up and take charge of their professional development,” said Moore North America Regional Director Brendan Quirk. “They really made this program their own, and while it might have been a rocky road, we are very proud of their commitment and fortitude throughout these 18 months.”

“This was about looking deep into ourselves and figuring out what our leadership style was and how we could improve as leaders,” said Emily Conley, DGA graduate from Brown Smith Wallace.

This program features leadership development training from The Center for Character-based Leadership (CCBL). The first session kicked off in-person in November 2019, with subsequent sessions held virtually to accommodate COVID-19 restrictions. The program included four two-day sessions, as well as individual coaching, peer coaching and mentor support.

“I think the program in general has had a profound effect on my life,” said Dan Sloan, DGA graduate from Topel Forman. “I’m happier now, I’m healthier, I’m more efficient with work, I’m more present with my family, and I think in general it’s wearing off on people around me.”

The program garnered interest from firms across the United States and Canada, including participants from 12 different member firms. While much of the program’s opportunity for networking was limited to online connections, participants took advantage of their time during this unique experience, including additional one-on-one coaching and virtual happy hours.

“What’s been fantastic about this program has been my peer group of other amazing professionals across the Moore network,” said Conley. “We really challenged each other, supported each other, and we found ways to help each other turn our weaknesses into strengths.”

CCBL provides coaching focused on the complexity of leading in the top two to three levels of organizations and the talent they are developing to step into that space.

“We found this group to be exceptionally resilient and engaged to grow as leaders,” said Sandy Reeser, CCBL. “This past year brought new meaning to 'stepping out of your comfort zone,' and they took risks, asked for honest feedback, tried new behaviours and integrated learnings from their efforts.”
